Quality and Environmental Activities

We will strive to improve the quality of operations and work, adopting ISO quality management standards. We will also formulate our own policies on environmental activities, concurrently we will contribute to the global environment and a sustainable society as a member of NYK Group.

Efforts to Improve Quality

We acquired ISO9002 certification, quality management standards developed by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) in December, 1999. (in December, 2009 ISO9001: obtained approval for the registration of transition to the 2008 edition, quality policies: having obtained approval)

Efforts to Promote Improvement of the Environment

Asahi Unyu Environmental Policies

  1. We deliver eco-friendly logistics services by setting necessary set goals and targets in consideration of effects of corporate activities on the global environment, reviewing them periodically, and making the continuous improvement.
  2. We observe environment-related laws and regulations and promote voluntary efforts to preserve the environment including resources and energy saving, waste reduction and recycle.
  3. We promote to adopt eco-friendly technology, etc., striving to make environmental burdens of cargo handling equipment or material procurement as low as possible.
  4. We raise the environmental consciousness of each of our employees through workplace communication to ensure that personnel are aware of our environmental policies, concurrently publicize it outside the company.

Green Management Accreditation
We were granted with Green Management Certification by the Foundation for Promoting Personal Mobility and Ecological Transportation (abbreviated as "Eco-Mo Foundation") after its review and approval, on February 26, 2010.
About Green Management

The Foundation for Promoting Personal Mobility and Ecological Transportation which was established with the approval of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism reviews companies, then grants and registers them with the Green Management Certification if their initiatives meet or surpass the requirements established in the foundation's Green Management Manual for encouraging them to their activities related to environmental conservation which has been prepared by it in cooperation with the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Japan Trucking Association.

We have submitted "Manifesto for Reducing CO2 Emissions" summarizing CO2 emission reduction targets to Aichi prefecture government, as part of our environmental activities and was accredited as a company implementing actively global warming countermeasures on December 13, 2012.

Aichi prefecture government publicize "Manifesto" (declaration on action) summarizing efforts to prevent global warming and CO2 emission reduction targets submitted by companies, concurrently accredit as a company implementing it depending on the results of the efforts for the year.

Introducing Hybrid Straddle Carriers

We changed from "traditional straddle carriers", harbor container handling equipment which was used in the Container Terminal Operation, to "hybrid straddle carriers", taking environmental burdens into consideration, in January, 2013. We will reduce use of fuel by up to 25%, concurrently can contribute to the prevention of global warming by emission reduction which the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism promotes.
